Day 9 - Chimpanzees
We got up especially early today to get to the gorge where we hoped to see chimpanzees. The location was a gorge in the middle of the savannah, with the gorge a jungle area.
We walked down into the gorge listening carefully for the sound of the chimps so that we could locate them in the trees. We could heear all sorts of noises from different animals and eventuallytracked down the chimps to a small group of trees. They were high up but plainly visible and did not seem disturbed by us at all.
After getting lots of photos of the chimps we also found a troop of baboons foraging. Then it was out of the cool of the gorge into the heat of the plateau and breakfast at the landrover.
Once breakfast was finished we started the long trek back to Kampala, stopping at the same hotel as on the way down and stopping again at the equator. 8 hours later we wwere backat the Kabira to sort out our rooms and our bags and try to recover from the exhausting journey.
