Day 6 - Nyakatakura and others

Tuesday was another busy day mainly at Nyakatakura school

The computer team stayed at Ibanda Integrated (where we were sleeping) and set up networking on their computers. They particularly wanted to be able to share files from the teacher to the students and to allow all computers to print on one shared printer. John, David and Andrew did an excellent job of setting this up. We also installed lost of software but came across a problem when the computers were restarted - all the software had gone. After some detective work we found that some security software had been installed by a volunteer some time ago and nobody knew anything about it. Unfortunately we ran out of time but were able to show the school what they should do.

The other teams were involved again in going into classes and purchasing materials.

After lunch at Nyakatakura we had an assembly with lots of speechesand prize giving. Then there was an inter school football match - I failed to record who won! But it was lots of fun.

After football, we went to Nyakatakura Primary school for welcome speeches and dance, and then the opening of new staff accommodation paid for by David's father and opened by David.

It was now getting late but we still had one more visit. Kibubura Girls' school. More food was followed by a dance demonstration in the hall and then a noisey speech by the Headmistress. Then there was frantic "personal interaction" where each of us was kidnapped and dragged away to talk to the girls - or rather be beseiged by questions. Bed at Integrated was very welcome.
