Day 5 - Nyakatakura Memorial Sec School
We rose at 7am but I had found that there was a lot of noise before that as people were heating the water for washing and then the children seemed to get up about 6am. We had an excellent breakfast however, and then went over to Nyakatakura for morning assembly.
Monday was spent as a full work day mainly at Nyakatakura. We split into four teams, one team would work with the computers at Kibubura Girls' School, one with the little children at Nyakatakura primary, one with the secondary age children and one purchasing materials for our building programme.
The purchasers did well and very soon bricks, cement, sand, and workmen were arriving at the school. We also ordered guttering, more solar lighting, desks and books. Those working in classes had a long morning, choosing what they wanted to teach. The computer squad got on well installing networking and new software, but rather frustrated that we could only get 5 out of their 11 computers working. We gave them some money to get the other computers repaired commercially. There were some girls in the computer room but their skills were very limited and they spent a lot of time playing solitaire and listening to christmas carols.
Lunch was late and was followed by lots of games activities, including netball, volleyball and cricket.
After tea we went back to the Integrated school for personal administration, supper and bed.
